Hostal Ruminpata, La Casa de Seizo
It has been already several times that we stayed at La Casa de Seizo, the first time on recommendation of our American friend Kerry. He had spent there a good time with his friends Lucia and Luis (the painter).
La Casa de Seizo, is as its name suggests, the house of Mr. Seizo, Venezuelan with a family originally from Japan and his wife Aurora, Peruvian but with a family of Japanese origin. They have lived for many years in Venezuela, but then preferred to change under the dictatorship of Chavez. They chose Moyobamba in the San Martin region in Northern Peru because this place reminds them the landscapes of Venezuela.

Where is located La Casa de Seizo ?
La Casa de Seizo, formerly Hospedaje Ecologico Rumipata, is situated just 10 minutes from the center of the city of Moyobamba and 5 minutes walking distances from the Baños termales (Thermal Baths) in Moyobamba. When you come from Chachapoyas in the Amazonas region, at the first roundabout in Moyobamaba, you have to turn right at the service station if you do not know, you run the risk of making a free trip to the city (I know what I am talking about). Then climb toward the Thermal baths and, when you are just in front, you need to take the dirt road to the right through the portal. Yes, the road is bad, but we arrived, after passing the first house, you can already see the house of Seizo and the fishponds.
How is it?
Calm, quiet, peaceful. All the spacious rooms overlook the ponds and the view of the valley; all have a musketeer, a fan, private bathroom with soaps and towls. Attention! This is not a luxury hotel but rather a lodging house. The beds are comfortable, each room on the first floor has a large and small bed, there are also smaller rooms in the garden area, and everything is clean and functional.
Aurora and Seizo are taking excellent care with their guests. In general, you find them in the kitchen that serves as they office, dining room and living room. Yu want a coffee in the afternoon? Ask about visiting Waqanki? Need a reservation in Tingana? Aurora will be happy to help you.
In front of the house there are three tilapia ponds surrounded by flowers, trees and orchids that attract hummingbirds. Take a book, sit in a hammock, on a chair in front of the house and enjoy the moment. Take your precautions and apply yourself repellent because according to the season, the little buggers could give you a hard time…
At night, Seizo prepares delicious meals, fresh grilled fish with ginger and garlic, or sushi and sashimi with previous reservation. Each meal includes salad or soup, main course and dessert. Breakfast the next day consists in fresh juice, eggs or omelette, jam, butter, bread and fruit salad. You eat VERY WELL in the house of Seizo and Aurora.
Definitely, a perfect place to relax between 2 excursions during your trip to Peru. The tranquillity allows you to relax and start fresh the next day!
